PH Council approves purchase agreement

Port Hueneme--The City Council approved the purchase and sale agreement of 140 West Pleasant Valley Road from the Larramendy Exemption Trust on May 2.

The $750,000 purchase price will come from the Development Trust Fund.

Community Development Manager Steve Kinney presented the item and said the property borders Pleasant Valley Road to the North, San Pedro Street and the Navy Base on the West, Panama Street on the East, and C Street on the South.

“The site in question is approximately 14,000 square feet, situated between two vacant City-owned parcels, and two City lots are on either side,” he said. “It used to be a gas station many years ago, and more recently, it’s been an auto repair yard. It’s been a fairly unsightly operation over the years, but it has started to clean up in anticipation of the sale.”

He said their concern has been with the property’s past uses, and if any environmental issues exist, the City needs to be concerned about the location.
