Port Hueneme—The City Council approved its priorities for the Oxnard Harbor District (The Harbor) during their Monday, March 18, meeting.
The City of Port Hueneme and Oxnard Harbor District, pursuant to a 2015 agreement, contributes $100,000 annually to the Community Benefit Fund (CBF) when gross revenues exceed $13 million and is subject to escalation by the CPI.
City Manager James Vega credited the Port of Hueneme and said they came back with more location options as they worked with them in the committee meetings.
“It ties to the priorities discussion because I think that is the big picture,” he said. “One of our goals and priorities, and that’s the feedback I’m looking for from the Council this year, is to have some of these projects we’re working on together to really have them be collaborative, and have them be joint efforts where both sides are bringing their ideas to the table and trying to get together and working on getting things done for the benefit of the community.”
Vega sees plenty of opportunities for the City of Port Hueneme and the Port of Hueneme to work together, benefitting both The Port and the City’s residents.
