Pinwheel gardens bloom across Ontario-Montclair School District

Children’s Network partnered with communi­ties across San Bernardi­no County to honor April as Child Abuse Preven­tion (CAP) month. Schools throughout the Ontar­io Montclair School Dis­trict honored CAP month and worked with Children’s Network to raise awareness by planting pinwheel gar­dens throughout different schools. The blue pinwheels represent hope, health and safety, and the happy child­hood that all children de­serve. Photos captured staff uniting in solidarity among the pinwheels.

The pinwheels will be displayed throughout the month of April to raise awareness for CAP month. In 2024, San Bernardino County Children and Fam­ily Services received suspect­ed child abuse referrals for more than 30,000 children. The blue ribbon, internation­ally recognized as the sym­bol of child abuse prevention, will be visible throughout the county during April as part of the Children’s Network’s Blue Ribbon Media Cam­paign.

We recognize the det­rimental effects that abuse and neglect have on the victim’s health and well-be­ing, and how these harmful experiences also affect the broader health and stability of our communities.
