Pleasant Valley restrooms budget approved

Oxnard—The City Council, Tuesday, July 30, unanimously approved an additional project contingency and budget appropriation for the Pleasant Valley Park restrooms.

The additional project contingency for agreement A-8485 with NoHo constructors is $2,912. The new contract amount is $242,162.

Public Works CIP Project Manager Niousha Mohammedi presented the budget appropriation and said the project included removing the existing unusable and out-of-service bathroom at Pleasant Valley Park and replacing it with a pre-fabricated Excello bathroom.

“The Exeloo restroom was pre-purchased by the City,” she said. “The City’s contractor, NoHo Constructors, is providing construction services. The Council originally approved the construction contract for this project with a $21,750 project construction contingency.”

She said Pleasant Valley Park’s restroom demolition incurred unforeseen project costs due to Southern California Edison’s signifi­cant and unexpected delay in providing permanent electrical service and a related requirement to install additional electrical components.

“This is not uncommon when dealing with existing old infrastructures in a public setting such as parks,” Mohammedi said. “The changes required due to unforeseen circumstances were providing temporary power during construction (change order 1) inside the existing restroom that was demolished.
