Port Hueneme—Good times, friends, and food were the stars at Hueneme Bay on Thursday, July 11, as the Community Potluck Dinner drew a crowd ready to enjoy the evening.
Hueneme Bay is a 55+ community where Seniors can enjoy activities like golf, a pool, and a clubhouse where they can read, relax, and do puzzles.
The Potluck Dinner featured backyard favorites like hotdogs and salad, with plenty of side dishes.
Alan Rothman managed the long line of people ready for dinner and cooked all the entrees. As a former restaurant owner, it’s his “fun place.”
“I’ve been cooking for the last three days,” he said. “I have chicken, barbecued hot dogs, and pork and beans, vegetarian and gluten-free. We try to cover everybody’s dietary requirements.”
He said all the smiling faces are the reason why he gladly moves forward and cooks.
“We get these people out; otherwise, they stay in their homes and whither away,” Rothman said. “I do the coffee event here every Saturday morning, along with a couple of other people here; we get about 20-25 people here, and it works well.”
