RMRA project list moves to council

Oxnard-- The Public Works and Transportation Committee, Tuesday, May 10, approved Senate Bill 1, the Road Maintenance Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) project list for the fiscal year 2022- 2023.

That bill enables City Manager Alex Nguyen to take whatever actions necessary to carry out the resolution. The city expects to receive and expend $4.6 million on road, signal, maintenance, and the annual pavement system upgrade, along with capital improvement projects to resurface arterial and neighborhood streets.

City Engineer Tatiana Arnout presented the item to the committee and said Governor Gavin Newsom signed the Road Repair and Accountability Act on January 1, 2017, increasing fuel taxes and registration fees, providing the state with around $5.4 billion each year to fix the state’s roadways.

“It’s distributed through several programs, and one of them is called RMRA,” Arnout said. That provides funding on a per capita basis for each city.

She said the use is restricted to road maintenance and rehabilitation, specifically when the PCI (Pavement Condition Index) is below 79.
