Ventura—During its Dec. 17 City Council Meeting, Deputy Mayor Dr. Jeanette Sanchez-Palacios was appointed Mayor of the City of Ventura.
A lifelong Ventura resident, she earned a Doctorate in Higher Education from California Lutheran University, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge, and a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles.
The new Mayor, driven by her passion for public service, Jeannette served in the County of Ventura’s Chief Executive Office and as District Director for the California State Assembly, collaborating with local community organizations such as the Turning Point Foundation, Ventura Education Partnerships, and the Police Activities League, as well as President of the Ventura Women’s Political Council.
The crowd greeted Sanchez-Palacios warmly, and she thanked her mentors who taught her the good, bad, and ugly sides of public service.
“Because of your leadership, especially in the public’s eye, you have set an example for me,” she said. “Your willingness to teach me what you’ve learned along the way and your guidance as I navigate my journey now.”
