Oxnard--The City Council approved the 2020 annual action plan amendment for the Emergency Shelter Cares Act during the meeting on Tuesday, December 19.
Council Member Gabby Basua motioned the item, which Council Member Bert Perello seconded.
The Emergency Shelter Cares Act approval authorizes City Manager Alex Nguyen and his designee to execute all the necessary agreements to implement the annual action plan.
Housing Director Emilio Ramirez said the City Council accepted a special allocation of a $5.255 million Emergency Shelter Allocation Grant from the Cares Act in October 2021 to aid services and the homeless.
“Funds are fully allocated to eligible activities; however, funds are often left unspent by the year’s end and are unallocated with the expectation of using them in the following year,” the staff report said. “Any participating jurisdiction will be deemed in violation of an expenditure requirement if it has more than 150 percent of the annual allocation unspent as of the first week of May.”
