STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL DELIGHTS LARGE CROWD

Ventura--Overcast skies didn’t dampen the mood at the California Strawberry Festival Sunday, May 21, as crowds lined the Ventura County Fairgrounds ready to enjoy Strawberry treats sure to delight the palate.

THE two-day Festival featured great attractions like the build-your-own strawberry shortcake station, chocolate-covered Strawberries, funnel cakes, Strawberry beer, and more than 40 food vendors. The Festival featured a Ninja Nation Obstacle Course, live music, and over a hundred arts and crafts booths.

Jeremy and seven staff members brought fresh Strawberries picked in Ventura County at Saticoy Berry Farms and said their Strawberries were only one day old.

“We picked them yesterday,” Jeremy said. “This is nice. It’s busy, and the new location is working out great.”

He said they brought about four tons of Strawberries to the Festival.

“Since we grow them, I think the best way to eat them to me is to pick them right off the plant,” he said. “Everyone has their preference.”

 

Jeremy said the sediment in the Oxnard plains makes the ground a great place to grow Strawberries.

“This is a lot of work for everyone,” he said.
