Ventura—During the Tuesday, April 18, Board of Supervisors Meeting, the group reviewed the dangers of E-Bikes in Ventura County.
Board Chairman Jeff Gorell said at the start of the item that Reece Beck sadly passed away as a result of an accident in Simi Valley.
“He happened to be on an E-Bike at the time, and I don’t want to begin to come to a conclusion that E-Bike was at fault or not, but it’s a growing issue in the entire County, and definitely in my District,” he said. “The concern around E-Bikes is specifically related to safety and youth.”
E-Bike use has grown exponentially in the County, and he said much of that is positive.
“We have so many older residents and Seniors who can get out and enjoy the outdoors, which is facilitated by the use of E-Bikes,” he said. “They can do trail riding, which they might not have been able to do before. There are a lot of great things that E-Bikes enable.”
He said there’s a lot of concern related to the youth.
