Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, on Tuesday, April 14, had its Staff modernize policies related to Community Events, temporary food facilities for public participation, and events related to community facilities and event organizer criteria.
Supervisor Janice Parvin said she’s been involved in temporary food facility training as well as people on her Staff.
“We recognize there are ways to streamline, and recognize there could be ways to do it,” she said. “It’s interesting how many calls I get on Environmental Health questions. It’s kind of complex, as it currently stands, but the current framework was adopted in 2013, and it’s done an important job in protecting public health, and environmental health does an excellent job of protecting public health.”

“Today, communities are not just gathering the key drivers of small business growth, entrepreneurship, and local economic activity, but some of our current requirements — such as a nonprofit sponsorship, formal proclamation, or resolution — are creating unnecessary barriers,” Parvin said. “The State Law doesn’t give us those provisions.
