Traffic signal agreement Approved

Oxnard—The Public Works and Transportation Committee, Tuesday, October 22, approved a trade services agreement with Taft Electric Company for on-call signal repair and maintenance.

The agreement has an initial 1-year and 10-day term from November 20, 2024, until November 30, 2025, with an option for four consecutive 1-year period extensions, with the final term ending November 30, 2029.

The contract’s total will not exceed $500,000.

Interim City Engineer Kawkeb Said presented the item and said the agreement offers essential support to the Traffic Engineering Department and extends capabilities by performing repairs requiring specialized equipment and expertise in routine and emergency situations.

“In emergencies, the contractor will respond within one hour to address issues such as traffic signal damage from collisions or equipment failure,” she said. “The City currently contracts these types of services and has done so for the past three years.”

She said the City used individual contracts to perform similar work before the on-call signal repair agreement.

Projects to be completed by the contractor include non-scheduled emergency repair work. The contractor must verbally respond within 30 minutes after telephone notification by the City, and Taft must be onsite within one hour.
