Unique Auto Fest captivates crowd

Oxnard—The Oxnard Performing Arts Center (OPAC) Parking Lot was full of excitement, Saturday, June 22, as the Unique Auto Fest, a free one-day car show fundraiser supported OPAC’s Children’s Art Programs, proudly displayed their prized automobiles.

ATTENDEES enjoyed classic cars as expert judges and car aficionados crowned the champions, while kids and families created art.

The marketplace featured delicious food and unique finds from local vendors, along with a DJ playing music to get everyone “moving and grooving.”

The event made possible by the Majestics Ventura County, pleased families across Ventura County.

Robert Garcia brought his classic 1955 Chevy Bel Air Convertible to the show with a stock 365 V8 under the hood.

“It has Aircraft Hydraulics in the back, and all the accessories, electric windows, spotlights, and an electronic eye,” he said. “It has all the bells and whistles.”

 

He’s owned the car for about three years.

“I’ve always wanted a Bel Air, and I got the opportunity to buy it, so I ended up buying it,” he said. “When I bought it, the car was all stock. I did all this myself.”

When he purchased it, the car was in “pretty decent shape.”
