Wastewater Division moves forward

Oxnard--The Public Works and Transportation Committee received a Wastewater Division general update during its Tuesday, May 14 meeting.

In 2016, the City’s 2016 Integrated Master Plan identified many projects at the Wastewater Plant, which addressed deferred maintenance, funding issues, failing equipment, and odor complaints.

Interim Assistant Director of Public Works Tim Beaman presented the update and said phase one of the Emergency Repairs Project was completed in 2020 and included a major rehab and replacement of some of the solids processing portions of the primary clarifiers.

“We added chemically enhanced primary treatment where we added chemical prior to the primary clarifiers, and we did some improvements to the HVAC within our lab,” he said. “We stabilized the Biotowers and rehab of the Cogen Engines.”

He said the project’s budget was $5 million.

“Currently, we’re in the middle of our reliability project; we’re roughly 40 percent complete,” he said. “This is a major rehab of several parts of the plant, including Headworks, the Main Electrical Building, the Maintenance Storage Building, the Motor Control Center, Site Security, Digester No. 2, SCADA, Site Civil, and the Sewer & Pump Stations.”
