Oxnard-- The Public Works & Transportation Committee, November 22, reviewed the City’s cost of water service report with the public.
Oxnard’s water system includes 10 groundwater wells, five interconnections to the United Water Conservation District, one interconnection to the Calleguas Municipal Water District, one Desalter Facility, six Blending Stations, over 500 miles of distribution pipeline, 43,000 meters, and the Advanced Water Purification Facility.
Assistant Public Works Director Joseph Marcinko presented the item and said Oxnard’s potable water sources come from Calleguas Municipal Water. Surface water the City purchases from them consists of 30-40 percent of its annual water supply.
“The City pumps groundwater, and that constitutes about 20-30 percent of the water supply,” he said. “The last part of that is the United Water Conservation District, local purchase groundwater, and that constitutes about 30-40 percent.” In Fiscal Year 20-21, he said the Public Works & Transportation Committee requested that Public Works provide reports regarding virtual water tour sources and drought updates, the cost of water, an Urban Water Management Plan, and Recycled Water.
“This report provides the Cost of Service Information, which is a component of Oxnard’s future long-term plans for water,” Marcinko said.
