Oxnard—The Public Works and Transportation Committee, September 9, adopted its 2025 Water System Design and Construction Standards, with an update to the 2002 City of Oxnard Standard Plates and Design Criteria.
Assistant Community Services Director Tai Chau presented the design criteria and said the action delegates discretionary authority to the Public Works City Engineer to approve future revisions to the 2025 Water System Design and construction standards and 2002 City of Oxnard Standard Plates and Design criteria and authorize City Manager Alex Nguyen to take whatever steps necessary to carry out the resolution.
“The 2002 City of Oxnard Standard Plates and Design Criteria sets the design and construction requirements, and constructing public infrastructure improvements, including street construction and water/wastewater systems,” he said. “The proposed update to the public water is a collaborative effort between engineering and Water Works Staff to reflect the latest industry standards and waterworks requirements.”
To maintain design immunity, the City Council must approve the new and updated standards, and Tau said that it grants the Public Works City Engineer the authority to approve future revisions, per Government Code.
