Watering limits loom in Oxnard

Oxnard-- In his April 19 report to the city council, Alex Nguyen said the Sports Park Idea Day is coming up from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday, April 30.

Sports Park is located at the corner of Gonzales Road and Oxnard Boulevard.

“This is where we invited groups and organizations and neighborhoods to talk about what might become of Sports Park and make their pitch directly to the community,” he said.

Public Works Director Michael Wolf updated the audience about the drought and said the water levels have not improved since the last report in January.

“It’s been reported that this is the driest three years in California’s history,” he said. “Recently, the state has confirmed their five percent allocation, which is the same as last year; however, we’re not seeing the same response from some of our regional partners in that same five percent allocation.

He updated the council about Calleguas Municipal Water District and the Metropolitan Water District (MET) and said on April 6, Calleguas, the state water product supplier declared a stage three drought.
