WAYFINDING project signs modernizes Oxnard

Oxnard--The Community Services, Public Safety & Housing, and Development Committee approved Oxnard’s ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funded Wayfinding Program during its Tuesday, January 23, meeting.

THE action approves the agreement with Found Design (MERJE) for a not-to-exceed amount of $65,000, and the agreement with Ardurra Group is for a not-to-exceed amount of $119,000.

The agreement with Ardurra Group is for project and construction management services for the Wayfinding Program and authorizes a prioritized implementation plan.

Oxnard Convention and Visitors Bureau President & CEO Julie Mino and Found Design, LLC Design Consultant John Bosio attended the meeting to provide a detailed live presentation.

Project Manager Samantha Shapiro told the committee that a community Wayfinding System is an informational system of signs, colors, and other design elements to help people navigate space.

 

“It introduces secondary tourism attractions and helps orient visitors when they arrive at a new place,” she said. “The current Wayfinding System in Oxnard was implemented in the early 2000s and has not been properly maintained or updated to reflect current destinations.”
