Wilson Seniors roll into summer

Oxnard—The Wilson Senior Center offers fun, community, individual passions, exercise, and nutrition daily as it rolls into a summer full of fun activities.

ATTENDEES engage in plenty of activities, such as puzzle creation, Mexican Bingo, called Loteria, Wii Bowling, or just spending the day enjoying each other’s company.

Wii Bowling Champion Anthony Romero said staying the Wilson Senior Center Bowling Champion requires a lot of practice, but he stays away from trash-talking the competition.

“The people I bowl with teach me,” he said. “The Wii here at the Wilson Senior Center is very important. It’s fun.”

Jean Reed was enjoying a game of Loteria with all her friends, and some bets were going on, which sparked up the competition.

Loteria is a game of chance played with a deck of cards instead of ping-pong balls. Each card has an assigned image to match.

“Mexican Bingo is almost like Bingo, and we’re playing in English and Spanish with the pictures that are on the card,” she said. “When I call out the card, you get one from the bottom and one from the top.”

From there, she said the card she pulled was a camarón (shrimp) with a shrimp picture.
