Wilson seniors swing towards fun

Oxnard—Things are gearing up for an exciting fall at the Wilson Senior Center, as Jean, the featured Super Senior, personifies everything great about the Center.

JEAN Herrison may be quiet, but the happy crocheter has sung the praises of the Wilson Senior Center for a long time.

“My husband Terrel passed away, and my children are grown, and it was so lonely,” she said. “On my first visit to the Wilson Senior Center, I was excited. I like to do crafts, and there were people coloring and drawing, all the things I like to do.”

She comes from Louisiana, doesn’t speak Spanish, so it took a little while before she made friends.

“The first thing I did here was do puzzles,” she said. “There were different things I could color, and I loved that.”

She stayed away from Loteria, but she does like bingo.

“I walk around Wilson Park sometimes,” she said.

 

Jean enjoys the lunches and said, “They’re really nice.” Her best friend sits with her.

‘I love the fruit they serve,” she said.

She stays away from teaching the pool player how to shoot.

“I never go on that side,” she said.
