Ventura—The Ventura City Council welcomed the public to its new and temporary location on Tuesday, August 19, at the Wright Events Center.
Mayor Dr. Jeanette Sanchez-Palacious said Historic City Hall is being remodeled and addressing needed updates.
“There will be upgrades to the Council Chambers and Public Restrooms,” she said. “This is an important community project, and I want to thank the tremendous team effort that made this transition possible.”
She thanked the partners at Ventura College, most notably Vice President James Zavas, and the dedicated facilities team at the center for working to provide the space.
“I also want to recognize the City Clerk’s Office for managing the logistics of the location and a special thank you to Assistant City Clerk Derek Riser for his careful attention to the details,” she said. “Thank you to our City Manager’s Office and Facilities Team, led by Mary Joyce Ivers and Barbara McCormack, our IT (Information Technology) Staff, to get us connected, our cleaning crew who prepared the building.”
She visited before the Wright Event Center was ready and said they “did a tremendous job.”
