Oxnard--Mayor John C. Zaragoza addressed the West Ventura County Business Alliance Friday, June 21.
He spoke about Oxnard’s positive budget and how the City continues to move forward and feels honored to make his State of the City Address.
“I believe this is the best City Council I’ve ever worked with,” he said. “This presentation reflects the leadership of the City Council and the City of Oxnard’s staff.”
He said Oxnard is doing well, despite the global impacts of supply chain disruptions, inflation, and labor shortages.
“We’re making steady progress throughout our City,” he said.
Highlights of the presentation include Oxnard’s stability, he said, along with the economic and social impacts of local government, a City Council priority update, the City’s restoration, and economic development.
“Oxnard is stable, and we’re proud to announce the third positive budget in a row,” he said.” With that, there is a balanced budget, of course.”
He noted that the City faced a $9.2 structural deficit four years ago, and the pandemic also struck them.
“Our voters approved Measure E, which helped us tremendously,” he said. “With the support of the City Council and its colleagues, we’re incrementally building on the progress each year.”
