Ventura—Friends, family, good times, and classic car aficionados bound by a sense of community were on full display Sunday, August 18, as the Antique Adventures Car Show rolls forward.
THE parking lot was full of carefully restored and preserved cool rides, and the community enjoyed a big morning of fun.
The cars have a home because Antique Adventures Owner Chuck Ackerman, a classic car buff, welcomes the crowd with open arms.
Chuck said Antique Adventures will mark nine years of vintage treasures for its customers in October.
“Especially through COVID,” he said about keeping the store thriving through the pandemic. “We’ll be here another nine years with somebody else at the helm. This is fun, but it’s not the ultimate, ultimate.”
He said his newest vendor, Rusty, sells classic British items.
“It’s classic British stuff,” he said.

Larry Spoerlein brought his 1925 Ford T-Bucket, a kit car built in Ventura made from fiberglass.
“It’s the stretch one, and since I’m big, I feel a lot more comfortable than in a regular T-Bucket,” he said. “We had it for about 10 years. It has a 383 Stoker Motor with a small blower on it.”
He was looking for something fun…
