Ventura-- The Board of Supervisors, May 3, received an update about the 2022-2023 budget for the Assessor’s Office.
DAN Goodwin presented the item, and it was noted that he’s been with the Assessor’s Office for 31 years.
In that period of time, the assessed property value more than tripled from $49 Billion to over $152 Billion.
Goodwin said he’s worked with 14 different supervisors during his 24 years of being the elected Assessor.
“The process of being an assessor is one that in a lot of ways is not that familiar,” he said. “Part of why I wanted to have this budget presentation was to go over a few things and give you some perspective.”
Over the course of a year, he said there would be over 1,000 assessor role corrections, as most of them are changes of address for homeowners and their homeowners’ exemption.
“There can be all kinds of things,” he said. “The State Board of Equalization is the larger entity that surveys and samples the assessor’s work on a regular basis.”
