Oxnard—The Oxnard Public Library’s Speaker series continued Saturday, September 28, as Deborah Holt-Larkin, author of A Lovely Girl: The Tragedy of Olga Duncan and the Trial of One of California’s Most Notorious Killers, captivated attendees with a twisted tale.
HOLT-LARKIN told the story, which began when she was a child, then met with attendees, answered questions, and autographed copies sold at the Friends of the Library Bookstore.
Oxnard Public Library Senior Librarian Jo-Anne Center said the Library recently opened its Local History Room and loves promoting local stories.
“This story, while notorious, is well-known in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area, and we thought it would be a great opportunity to educate the public on things they may have not heard about before and get details on someone who’s done extensive research,” she said. “True Crime stories are usually not my cup of tea, but she (Holt-Larkin) did a wonderful job and did the story sensitively, as some other types of books.”

She said the Oxnard Public Library continues to be a hub promoting local authors, which features a yearly local showcase.
