Oxnard—The Fiscal Year 24-25 budget preview continues as the Colonia Senior Center’s hours were extended by two hours daily, increasing programmable time by over 500 hours annually.
ASSISTANT City Manager Ashley Golden said that the increase in programmable time at the Colonia Senior Center is 60 percent.
“Regarding homelessness, we know this is a crisis, but we continue to increase supportive services and expect the new 110-bed shelter and 56 permanent supportive housing units to open in 2025 right here in downtown Oxnard, she said. “The bonding litigation has slowed progress for the new Senior Center and South Oxnard Aquatic Center, which are also priorities within the quality of life because we cannot access the funds to connect and construct these facilities.”
In Economic Development, she said the City is in the design stages of improvements for the Fourth Street Corridor, which connects the train station to downtown.
“This project includes curb extensions, crosswalks, bike lanes, bike racks, and lighting to help improve the pedestrian experience,” she added. “We’re also continuing our partnership with Oxnard College and the Chamber for the Oxnard Employee Pipeline, where we connect our community members with the skills and training they need to get…
