CFD Five conversation invokes heated discussion

Oxnard—City Officials, led by Special Districts Director Alex Miller, Police Chief Jason Benites, Assistant City Attorney Ken Rozell, Public Works Director and Assistant Director Steve Howlett and Michael Wolfe, Council Member Gabe Teran, and City Manager Alex Nguyen, took their CFD No. 5 message to a Community Conversation at El Rio Middle School Thursday, September 5, and offered answers to questions asked by attendees.

THE Conversation included residents who believe they are being double-taxed in the District, and the two sides jousted with no resolution before November 5.

Items on the ballot include the “Repeal of Community Facilities No. 5 (Riverpark) Special Taxes,” “Reduction of the Maximum Special Taxes imposed within Community Facilities District No. 5, and limitations on Uses of Special Taxes, as proposed by Aaron Starr and Alicia Percell.

The Council countered with a City-Sponsored Community Facilities District No. 5 (Riverpark) with no Tax Increase, a Public Safety, Neighborhood Services Measure, and a resolution to order consolidation. With the November 5 statewide election, the County Clerk conducts the election with the Board of Supervisors, canvassing the returns.
