Committee Meeting Full Of Controversy

Oxnard—The Finance and Governance Committee, Tuesday, July 14, had sparks flying from the opening bell during public comments.

DURING public comments, Jim said he's trying to keep it toned down, but he said the item against City Treasurer Phil Molina that outlined all the faults was inappropriate.

"There was no proof of anything, and it didn't say what the market was, what he could have been investing at the time, what the opportunity cost was, or how much money the City could have made. There was none of that," he said.

He's from New England, born and raised, and lived there for over 30 years of his life.

"We've been dealing with witch hunts since the 1600s," he said. "What bothers me is that it makes the City look bad. When I first moved to Oxnard in the 80s, I was the intern for the City Treasurer. That was in 1984, and I did my Master's Thesis based on what I did here, and I thought this was a Cowboy Town. There was nothing to do, nothing here, and now with all these personal vendettas, it feels the same to me."
