Oxnard-- The City Council approved revisions to the conceptual design of the proposed South Oxnard Aquatic Center Tuesday, January 17, along with an amendment to the agreement with Design Architecture and Urban Design.
CHANGES to the design include the goals for the Aquatic Center, the cost for the Alternate B Concept Plan selected by the Council on September 6, 2022, and information related to design cost and geo-technical work, which is new information.
Public comments implored the City to keep the 50-meter pool and eliminate items like the proposed Lazy River and other amenities included in the Fun Water design.
Assistant City Manager Ashley Golden presented the video and said there are recommendations for Value Engineering to reduce the overall project cost.
“There is the electrification of the site, a contract with ELS, and the financial impacts and bonding associated with the project, as well as impacts to the overall project schedule,” she said.
She said the South Oxnard Aquatic Center’s goals are to provide ample learn-to-swim opportunities and develop a love for the water.
