Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, on Tuesday, September 22, heard a presentation and approved and authorized the Emergency Powers Ordinance and Operational Area Agreement date change.
PATRICK Maynard, Director of the Office of Emergency Services at the Sheriff’s Office, said the item had two parts: repealing and replacing the Emergency Powers Ordinance and the Operational Area Agreement Updates.
“Can you consider the adoption of an ordinance repealing and waiving and adopting chapter three and division 5 of the Ventura County Ordinance,” he said. “We waive further reading and ask you to schedule it on October 6.”
He also asked the Board to approve an updated operational agreement between the County and 10 Ventura County Cities.
“The two documents before you tonight are certainly aging documents,” he said. “They are not the oldest law on the books, but they are aging. The Ventura County Operational Agreement was last adopted in 1995; it's now 30 years old and has a lot of antiquated language in it.”
He said the other item before the Board was the Emergency Powers Ordinance, last adopted in 2010.
“There were a lot of lessons learned through COVID-19, particularly when it comes to spending, and there are things we are working to modernize,” he said.…
