Oxnard—The Public Works and Transportation Committee approved an agreement with Garcia’s Landscaping Maintenance on Tuesday, September 22, for on-call tree maintenance services.
PARKS Division Manager Brandon Lopez of the Public Works Department presented the agreement and said it is for five years, with an option to extend, not to exceed $6 million.
“The City of Oxnard is responsible for over 41,000 trees, according to the most recent tree inventory in 2026,” he said. “They maintain parkways, medians, and parks throughout the City. There are currently five full-time public works tree crews that conduct and oversee a large amount of tree work, both routine and emergency.”
With the passing of Measure E in 2020, he said the City Council approved funding for contract tree services, including a Grid Pruning Contract and an on-call Tree Maintenance Services Agreement.
The Grid Pruning Contract provides cost-effective tree pruning at bulk rates citywide to achieve the objective of an industry-standard five-year pruning cycle for all City trees. Palm trees are pruned at least once per year.
