Oxnard-- The community discussion about adjusting expectations because of economic and social circumstances on February 7 continues with the Oxnard Arts Academy being launched in the Colonia Neighborhood.
"THE pandemic waylaid a lot of our efforts,” City Manager Alex Nguyen said. “That classroom is open and in full operation. I believe they’ve already had one recital. We’re still looking for an adequate facility, but we’re hoping to launch in South Oxnard as well later this year.”
He noted the recreation facilities for the youth and seniors have also reopened in the aftermath of the pandemic.
“The Basketball Gyms are open in a limited capacity for our youth sports programs, and our library and branch all reopened full time,” Nguyen said.
Conditions occurring outside Oxnard are affecting the City; Supply Chain, Inflation, and Labor Shortages hurt the City.
“No local Government or City Hall is immune from all of these activities,” he said.
Nguyen said it usually takes 18 months to receive an ordered truck, but because of Supply Chain issues, that same truck will now take about 38 months.
