Oxnard-- The city council’s update about the Public Works Department continues with the Transportation and Mobility Division.
THE department is trying to catch up with deferred maintenance issues and staffing shortages but is making progress.
Public Works Director Michael Wolfe said the Transportation and Mobility Division has five employees and provide services in transportation planning, securing grants for transportation improvement projects, responding to 311 traffic requests, reviews traffic control, development plans, and documents.
“Additionally, they oversee traffic signal operations and maintenance, coordinate traffic operations incident management from the traffic management center, and evaluate the adequacy of traffic control systems and signage,” he said.
The Environmental Resources Department provides solid waste collection and material recovery, including solid waste, recyclables, and organic material, for over 53,000 customer accounts.
“They also provide organic and green waste processing and the transfer and transportation of up to 330,000 tons per year of solid waste and organic material,” he said. “As part of Environmental Resources, the Oxnard 311 Illegal Dumping neighborhood cleanup team processes over 10,000 annual work order requests for removing illegally dumped material throughout the city.
