Safe Routes to school approved

Oxnard—The City Council approved agreement 32400521 with Toro Enterprises during its Tuesday, June 4 meeting.

THE agreement enhances the Safe Routes to School Project, a Capital Improvement Project with an Active Transportation Grant.

Its purpose is to improve visibility at pedestrian crossings, complete missing or inaccessible curb ramps, install traffic signs and pavement markings, and enhance intersection geometry to improve sight distance for motorists and pedestrians for Curren Elementary, Fremont Middle School, Harrington, Kamala, and Lemonwood Elementary Schools.

Traffic Engineering Division Associate Engineer Jose Rivera presented the item totaling $4.310 million in project funds and authorizes Mayor John Zaragoza to execute an agreement with Toro Enterprises totaling $3.591 million with a $359,144 contingency amount (10 percent) for a not to exceed contract total of $3.951 million contract amount for the project.
