South Oxnard Library has sharks

Oxnard—Kids of all ages enjoyed a special Storytime featuring “I’m a Shark!” by Bob Shea, hunted for real fossils, made their own shark puppet, and played in the professional puppet theater.

THE highly educational and interactive event piqued minds, demonstrating the South Oxnard Public Library is a valuable resource for the community.

Librarian, Krista Ward-Sell, specializes in the Children’s Collection at the branch and said she’s sharing Shark fossils with the kids.

“They’ll touch, explore, and feel what they look like,” she said. “I spent some time at Shark Tooth Hill, which gave me the experience of being an actual paleontologist. You can go there, dig through the dirt, and find Shark teeth there.”

She said Shark Tooth Hill only accepts people ages 7 and up, and the South Oxnard Library has no restrictions.

“What Child doesn’t love extinct things, especially extinct large things,” she said. “I have a Megalodon tooth here and an Oeilquis Otoduus species tooth.”

 

She said kids are curious about Sharks, how big they are, and how much they eat.

“They have all kinds of questions, and we want them to know the Library is the place to come and get that kind of information,”…
