Straight Transparent talk with Nguyen

Oxnard—The Tri County Sentry, Friday, October 3, had an im­portant conversation with Oxnard City Man­ager Alex Nguyen, who painted a picture of a City boldly moving forward.

ANY meeting with Alex is always amicable, as he is just as interested in my transplant as I am in his family.

The conversation begins with the bathrooms at Heritage Square, which he said is currently on the back burner.

“We have too many items occurring,” he said.

The Sports Park remains a work in progress.

“This is a Council Policy Decision policy decision,” he said, “Its future use will be for baseball and Softball.”

The Carnegie Arts Center is currently undergoing Tier 2 seismic evaluation and is nearing completion.

“The NAGRA Review (National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste) is currently in progress,” he said.

Alex said Casa de Carmen, Oxnard’s new Homeless Solutions Center, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

There is no change in the pool’s status at College Park.

The Downtown Corridor remains a work in progress.

“We’re still negotiating with the Social Security Building Development,” he said. “Construction costs make it hard to pencil out.”
