Supervisors honor Salvation Army

Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, on Tuesday, May 12, recognized May 11-17, as Salvation Army Week in Ventura County.

SUPERVISOR Matt LaVere presented the Salvation Army honor and said that for over 70 years, the Salvation Army Ventura Corps has served local residents across the County.

“Physically, Emotionally, Spiritually, and whenever those of our neighbors and friends here in the County are in the most need, the Salvation Army and its team step up,” he said. “Over and over, we see people at increased risk of homelessness, food insecurity, addiction, and the Salvation Army and their team are always there to step up and serve.”

LaVere attended the luncheon on May 11, which honored their volunteers.

“The one thing that stood out to me was that Nationwide, there are about 3,000 commissioned officers, over 50,000 Staff, but there are over 3 million volunteers serving residents,” he said. “In Ventura County, they are making their mark, and doing the most good is more than a motto; it reflects the enduring commitment of the Salvation Army to serve others selflessly and effectively.”

Captain Patricia Torres thanked the Board and recognized the work they do throughout Ventura County, helping those facing a crisis.
