Unpermitted food vendors stopped

Oxnard—The City of Oxnard’s Code Compliance Division and the Oxnard Fire Department will continue to actively monitor and regulate unpermitted food vendor operations throughout the community.

SEVERAL critical concerns, including food safety standards, the need for proper licenses and permits, traffic safety considerations, potential zoning violations, and promoting fair competition among local businesses, drive these initiatives.

Officers from the Oxnard Police Department are also involved to ensure the safety and well-being of all parties involved. They play a vital role in making certain that these food stands do not obstruct fire lanes, thereby maintaining access for emergency services. Additionally, they monitor the placement of vendor stands to minimize the risk of accidents caused by haphazard positioning, while addressing public safety issues related to overcrowding and high foot traffic in certain areas.

To ensure visibility and accountability during these enforcement operations, the City’s compliance teams will be outfitted in distinctive, easily recognizable uniforms and will wear badges that clearly denote their authority. This approach aims not only to uphold regulations but also to foster a safe and orderly environment for both vendors and the public.
