Veteran Kids & Moms honored

Oxnard—The City of Oxnard’s Veteran’s Day Ceremony at Plaza Park continues with Mayor John Zaragoza reading a proclamation about Armistice Day, which concluded World War I.

THE City held a moving ceremony at Plaza Park on Monday, November 11, which drew a large crowd that wanted to thank Veterans for their service to the United States of America.

“The Allied victory in World War I affirmed the strength of a great Nation acting together for a higher purpose,” he said. “The people of the United States, through their elected representatives, designated November 11 as a Federal legal holiday, which became known in 1954 as Veteran’s Day.”

He said Vets continue to be celebrated and commemorated, honoring all Americans who’ve served the United States in the Armed Forces.

“Veteran’s Day has become a significant part of the American Heritage, and we recognize the millions of Americans whose Military service has had a profound effect on our history,” he said. “It’s the courage, honor, and sacrifice of the Armed Forces members who have displayed in the cause of Justice, Freedom, and Democracy that are most worthy of recognition.”
